Saluting wounded veterans with a week of fun in the Perdido Key sunAugust 17 2016

By Charleigh Kennedy

What started as a single owner’s gesture of thanks to a wounded veteran has quickly evolved into an annual week-long free vacation for more than 20 wounded American military veterans and their families.

Wounded Vets at Eden

In 2014, an Eden owner decided to give up his unit for a week to a combat wounded Iraq veteran. The word quickly spread throughout the condominium and before long, 25 condo owners eagerly vacated their units to give the vets and their families a week of rest, relaxation and fun in the Perdido Key sun!

For the third year, Eden is working in collaboration with two military veteran organizations, Wounded War Heroes and the Wounded Warrior Project, to coordinate the event this September 17-24. In the previous years Eden has also teamed up with local businesses to provide the vets and their families with complimentary sailing, beach chairs, restaurant meals, attraction tickets and more.

In addition to a free vacation, veterans will have the opportunity to share their experiences and enjoy the company of other wounded vets alike — plus it’s a chance for families to talk with one another and come together for a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

If you or your business would like to contribute to the week of fun and relaxation for our wounded veterans, Eden is asking for paper goods (paper towels, toilet paper), paper plates and cups, plastic cutlery, bottles of water, soda and snacks. Please contact Eden by phone or email at 850-492-3336 or rental@perdido-key.com
